Perplexity searches the web and cites what it finds. For legal matters, however, that is not enough: full texts of legislation are scattered, case law is hidden in court databases, and results from discussion forums are not a reliable source. The Europaius connector gives Perplexity access to a structured legal corpus.

How this differs from web search

When you ask Perplexity about a notice period, it will find articles from advisory websites and answer based on those. Such an article may be outdated or relate to a different situation. The connector instead returns the exact statutory provision in its current wording, along with court decisions interpreting it. Perplexity can still combine both: context from the web and binding text from the corpus.

The corpus also contains material you will rarely find on the open web: 980,000 Czech court decisions with full text and full-text search, citation links between provisions, and legislation from 25 EU countries, including Ireland / Cyprus / Malta, in the original language.

Connecting the connector

Perplexity allows you to add custom MCP connectors in your account settings (Settings → Connectors). This feature is available on paid plans. After entering the address https://mcp.europaius.com/mcp, Perplexity will open the Europaius login screen, where you enter your email address and the code sent to you. The connector is then available in all threads, and you can enable it for a specific query.

If your version of Perplexity only offers connectors in the Mac desktop app, add it there; the setting is tied to your account.

When Perplexity with the connector makes the most sense

Quick verification of a claim from an article: “This website claims the notice period is 30 days. Verify it against Europaius.”
Tracking changes: “What has changed in the regulation of annual leave since 2024? Cite the legislation.”
Cross-country comparison: “How is the probationary period regulated in Ireland, Cyprus and Malta?” Perplexity will use the comparison tool and return the relevant provisions from each country.
Case-law research for an article or study, complete with case reference numbers and links.

Limitations

Perplexity decides on its own when to call the connector. If you want certainty, name it explicitly in your query. For foreign jurisdictions, the first search takes longer because extensive full-text databases are being searched; repeated queries are fast. The free Europaius account allows 100 queries per day, and each tool call counts as one query.

Step-by-Step Instructions

In Perplexity, open Settings → Connectors.
Click Add custom MCP (or Add connector), enter the name Europaius and the address https://mcp.europaius.com/mcp.
Confirm; Perplexity will open the Europaius login page. Enter your email address and the code sent to you by email.
In a new thread, enable the Europaius connector among the sources and ask your question, for example: “According to Europaius: what are the conditions for a landlord to terminate a residential lease?”

No, it complements it. Perplexity can combine the web and the corpus within a single answer. For the binding wording, rely on the links to europaius.com.

Can I also use the connector in Perplexity Spaces?

Yes, if your version allows you to select sources within a Space, the connector will appear among them once connected.

What if the login screen does not appear?

Check whether your browser is blocking pop-up windows and try connecting again. The login link is valid for 15 minutes.
