The examples in this guide are based on Czech law. The same tools also work with the Europaius Malta corpus:
An interpretation is a short commentary on a provision: what it regulates, who it imposes an obligation on or grants a right to, what conditions, exceptions and deadlines apply, and which other provisions it links to. It is generated from the text of the provision and verified citation links, not from the model's general knowledge, so it contains no statements that are not in the legislation itself. Over 200,000 interpretations of Czech legislation are available, plus over 130,000 for EU law.
The tool vyklad(state, law, paragraf) returns the interpretation for a given provision, for example vyklad("CZ", "89/2012", "2958") for compensation for personal injury. AI uses it when you ask "explain Section 2958 of the Civil Code in plain terms" or when it needs context for a provision it has found. Alongside it, AI typically also retrieves the exact wording using the get_paragraf tool, so you have both the text and the explanation side by side.
The interpretation does not include case law; this is intentional, so that it remains anchored solely in the text of the legislation. To see how courts interpret a provision, use the case-law tool, see Case Law Research with AI. Interpretations are currently available only for Czech law; for other countries, AI works directly with the text of the legislation.
https://mcp.europaius.com/mcpNo, it is an indicative commentary. What is binding is the text of the legislation and its interpretation by the courts. The interpretation serves to aid understanding, not as a legal opinion.
AI will say so and use the exact wording instead. Interpretations are being added on an ongoing basis.
