THE MALTA SELF-GOVERNMENT RE-INTRODUCTION SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY [ S.L.251.04 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 251.04 THE MALTA SELF-GOVERNMENT RE-INTRODUCTION SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY RULES 14th May, 1996 LEGAL NOTICE 89 of 1996. 1. The title of these rules is The Malta Self-Government Re-introduction Seventy-Fifth Anniversary Medal Rules. Title. 2.
(1)There shall be struck a medal to be known as "the Malta Self-Government Re-introduction Seventy-Fifth Anniversary Medal" (hereinafter in these rules referred to as "the Medal") to be awarded in accordance with these rules. Striking of Medal.
(2)1996. Awards of the Medal shall have effect on the 7th June, 3.
(1)The Medal shall be circular, in silver and 36mm in diameter, bearing on the obverse a representation of the Emblem of Malta and the reverse the year "1921" in the centre encircled by a wreath of oakleaves bound at the top and bottom as well as in the middle of the two sides all encircled by the words "RE-INTRODUZZJ0NI TA’ GVERN RESPONSABBLI * IL-}AMSA U SEBG}IN ANNIVERSARJU * 1996 *" all in relief; the whole being suspended from a bar with, in relief, an olive branch and palm frond joined in the centre. Insignia.
(2)The name of the recipient is to be engraved on the rim of the Medal.
(3)The Medal is suspended from a riband 32mm in width being green with two narrow central vertical stripes, white and red, each 3mm in width; the whole having a moire effect.
(4)On appropriate occasions a miniature of the insigna may be worn, which shall measure approximately 18mm in diameter, with the ribbon 16mm in width. 4. The Medal is awarded to any person living on the 7th June, 1996 who at any time since the 1st November, 1921 was, or is, a Member of the Senate, Legislative Assembly or House of Representatives: Award. Provided that persons who on the 7th June, 1996 are Members of the House of Representatives shall onle be presented with the Medal once they cease to be Members. 5.
(1)The Medal shall be presented: (
- a)by the President of Malta; or (
- b)by any High Commissioner or Ambassador authorised to make the award in the name of the President; or (
- c)by any other person designated by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister to make the award on Presentation. 2 [ S.L.251.04 THE MALTA SELF-GOVERNMENT RE-INTRODUCTION SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY behalf of the President.
(2)When Medals are presented by the President, he shall address recipients as follows: "On behalf of the Government and people, I confer on you the National Commemorative Medal to mark the Seventy-Fifth Anniversary of the Re-introduction of Self-Government in 1921.".
(3)The representative of the President shall address recipients as follows: "In the name of the President of Malta, and on behalf of the Government and people, I confer on you the National Commemorative Medal to mark the SeventyFifth Anniversary of the Re-introduction of SelfGovernment in 1921.". Revocation. S.L.251.01 Cap. 251. 6. Revocation of the award of the Medal shall be governed by the provisions of rule 17 of the Rules for Honours, Awards and Decorations and articles 23 and 24 of the {ie] ir-Repubblika Act.
