ISSUE AND VALIDITY OF IDENTITY CARDS [ S.L.258.01 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 258.01 ISSUE AND VALIDITY OF IDENTITY CARDS REGULATIONS 15th March, 1996 LEGAL NOTICE 47 of 1996, as amended by Legal Notices 67 of 2000, 9 of 2006, 1 of 2007, 1 of 2008, 10 of 2009, 28 of 2010, and 1 and 497 of 2011, 216 and 464 of 2012, and 147 and 340 of 2013 and 143 of 2020. 1. The title of these regulations is Issue and Validity of Identity Cards Regulations. Title. 2. For the purposes of these regulations, the term "listed locality" means a locality listed in Locality A, Locality B or Locality C as appearing in the Schedule, and the area of such locality shall be such area as is defined for each particular locality in the Local Government Act. Interpretation. 3. Notwithstanding the specific dates shown on each identity card issued during the years 1995 and 1996 indicating that the validity thereof expires on a particular date during the years 2000, 2001 and 2002, all such identity cards shall expire as shown hereunder according to the listed locality where the holder resides as appearing in the Schedule: Validity and issue of identity cards.   1. a)Locality A, on the day and month indicated on the card but in the year 2000; and (
  2. b)Locality B, on the day and month indicated on the card but in the year 2001; and (
  3. c)Locality C, on the day and month indicated on the card but in the year 2002, and after the years 2000, 2001 and 2002, as the case may be, every six years thereafter in such manner that all the identity cards of residents in any particular locality shall always expire during the same year: Provided that, with effect from the 13th April 2020, identity cards issued after the 12th of February 2014, whose identifying number contains any of the letters ‘B’, ‘G’, ‘H’, ‘L’, ‘M’, ‘P’ and ‘Z’, which expire before the 30th June, 2020 shall, notwithstanding the expiry date appearing on such identity card, remain valid until the 30th June, 2020 or until such other date as the Prime Minister may by regulations establish, whichever is the earlier, and such identity cards shall not be deemed to have expired before the 30th June, 2020 or before such date as the Prime Minister may by regulations establish as aforesaid.
