DEGREE OF MASTER OF DIPLOMACY UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN ACADEMY OF DIPLOMATIC STUDIES [ S.L.327.20 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 327.20 BYE-LAWS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF DIPLOMACY UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN ACADEMY OF DIPLOMATIC STUDIES 2nd December, 2008 LEGAL NOTICE 323 of 2008, as amended by Legal Notice 304 of 2009. 1.

(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws for the D e g r ee o f M a s t er o f Di p l o m ac y u n d er t h e a u s p i ce s o f t h e Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies.
(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies; "the course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Master of Diplomacy; "the Degree" means the degree of Master of Diplomacy; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2009 or later. 3.
(1)applicable for courses To be admitted to the course, applicants must be: (
  1. a)employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their country or in another governmental entity active in external relations and have served in this capacity for at least one year; and Applicability. Amended by: L.N. 304 of 2009. Requirements for admission. Substituted by: L.N. 304 of 2009. (
  2. b)in possession of a recognized first cycle degree recognized by Senate for the purpose.
(2)Applicants may be required to attend an interview to ascertain their proficiency in the English Language.
  1. The course shall extend over two semesters of full-time study or the equivalent in part-time study. Course duration.
  2. The programme of study shall comprise taught study-units to which a total of 60 credits are assigned. Programme of study.
  3. The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight mo nths prior to the commencement of the course. Publication of programme of study. 7.
(1)The assessment of each taught study-unit shall be completed by the end of the semester in which the teaching of the study unit is held. Assessment and progress.
(2)Students who in any academic year fail in the assessment of not more than 20 credits for taught study-units, if following the 2 [ S.L.327.20 DEGREE OF MASTER OF DIPLOMACY UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN ACADEMY OF DIPLOMATIC STUDIES course full-time, or not more than 10 credits if following the course part-time, shall be given the opportunity to re-sit the failed assessments during the September supplementary examination session.
(3)Students who fail in more than the number of credits permitted under paragraph
(2)or students who after re-assessment fail to obtain the credits for any study-unit, shall be deemed to have failed the course. Classification of the Award.
  1. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in all the components of the programme of study, all credits being weighted equally. Special provisions for part-time courses.
  2. The provisions of the foregoing bye-laws shall apply mutatis mutandis to courses followed on a part-time basis, and subject to such changes as may reasonably be deemed by the Board as necessary due to the part-time nature of the course.
