(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Bachelor of Communications (Honours) - B. Comms (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences.

- In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences; "the Course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Communications (Honours) - B. Comms (Hons); "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Communications (Honours) in the relevant area of specialisation, if applicable - B.Comms (Hons); “the Higher Diploma” means the Higher Diploma in Communications in the relevant area of specialisation - H.Dip.; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards,
- These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October 2017 or later. Applicability. 3.
(1)The Degree is awarded in Communications either as a single main honours area of study, or in one of the following areas of specialisation: Areas of Study. Film and Screen Arts; or Marketing Communication; or Media Studies and Journalism
(2)The areas of specialisation offered in any particular year shall be published by the Board before the commencement of each Course.
- To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations, be in possession of a pass at Intermediate Matriculation Level in English, or its equivalent. (1)The Board shall publish the programme of study before the commencement of the Course. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study they are following for the Degree, provided that the programme of study shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.
(2)During the first year of the Course, students shall be required to choose their area of specialisation from those specified in paragraph

- Students who successfully complete study-units to which 120 ECTS credits are assigned, and who either opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course shall be entitled to the award of the Higher Diploma.
