(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degrees of Bachelor of European Studies (Honours) - B.Eur.Studies (Hons) - and Bachelor of European Studies - B.Eur.Studies - under the auspices of the Institute for European Studies.

In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the Institute for European Studies; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of European Studies (Honours) - B.Eur.Studies (Hons) - or to the degree of Bachelor of European Studies B.Eur.Studies - as appropriate; “the Degree” means the degree of Bachelor of European Studies (Honours) - B.Eur.Studies (Hons) - or the degree of Bachelor of European Studies - B.Eur.Studies - as appropriate; “the Institute” means the Institute for European Studies; and “the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards,

(1)The degree of B.Eur. Studies (Hons) may be awarded in terms of these bye-laws in European Studies as the Honours Main area of study together with a Subsidiary area of study. Areas of study. Amended by: L.N. 273 of 2024.
(2)The degree of B.Eur.Studies may be awarded under the auspices of the Institute in two Ordinary Main areas of study, one of which must be European Studies.
(3)The Board shall announce a list of areas of study that may be taken with European Studies in the Degree before the commencement of the course.
  1. To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations, be in possession of those qualifications relevant to their second area of study whether taken as an Ordinary Main area or as a Subsidiary area as indicated in the bye-laws Special course requirements for admission. Course duration.
  4. The course shall extend over a period of three years of fulltime study. Course programme.
  5. Students shall be required to register either for the B.Eur. Studies (Hons) degree or for the B.Eur. Studies degree and are required to indicate their choice of the second area of study in addition to European Studies at the time of applying for admission. Publication of course programmes. 7.
(1)The Board shall publish the course programmes in European Studies drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations and as approved by Senate, before the commencement of each course. Subject to changes that the Board may make, with the approval of Senate, students shall follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the course programmes and in the programmes of study of the other areas they are following for the Degree.
(2)The programmes of study for the areas of study that may be taken with European Studies in the degree Course shall be those published by the Board of the academic entity responsible for the area of study. Credits. Amended by: L.N. 215 of 2008. 8.
(1)Students on the B.Eur. Studies (Hons) course shall be required to register and obtain credit for study-units to which a total of 180 credits are assigned, of which not less than 132 credits shall be in European Studies and not less than 36 credits shall be in the Subsidiary area of study.
(2)Students on the B.Eur.Studies course shall be required to register and obtain credit for study-units to which a total of 180 credits are assigned, of which not less than 90 credits shall be in European Studies, not less than 74 credits shall be in another area of studies and the rest shall be optional study-units. Classification of awards. 9.
(1)The final average mark for the classification of the Bachelor of European Studies (Honours) degree shall be based on the results obtained in each year of the course, which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 20% Second Year Average Mark 35% Third Year Average Mark 45%.
