(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Administration B.A. (Hons) Pub.Admin. - under the auspices of the Institute of Public Administration and Management.
(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Institute of Public Administration and Management; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the course; "the course"" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Administration B.A. (Hons) Pub.Admin.; "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Administration - B.A. (Hons) Pub.Admin.; "the Diploma" means the Diploma in Public Administration D.P.A.; "the Higher Diploma" means the Higher Diploma in Public Administration - H.Dip.P.A.; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards. S.L. 327.236 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2015 or later. Applicability. applicable for courses 3.
(1)Admission to the course may, with the approval of Senate, be restricted to applicants who are eligible for admission as regular students in terms of the Admission Regulations of the University and are nominated by an organisation that commissions the course.
(2)Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph
(1)of this bye-law, the Board may recommend to Senate the number of students that may be admitted to the Course, depending on the resources available. If any such recommendation is made and approved, the number of available places shall be announced at the time of the call for applications.
(3)If there are more eligible applicants than the number of Requirements for admission. 2 [ S.L.327.266 DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION - B.A. (Hons) Pub.Admin. - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT places available, applicants shall be selected after they have undertaken a written test, conducted by the Board of Studies, which shall make its recommendations taking the following criteria and weightings into consideration: (a) academic qualifications - 30%; (b) performance in the written test - 50%; and (c) experience of, and interest in, public administration 20%.
(4)For the purpose of selection, applicants who fully satisfy the general entry requirements by 31st August preceding the commencement of the course shall be placed in rank order and those for whom places are available shall be accepted and informed accordingly.
(5)Applicants in possession of the Diploma in Public A d m i n i s t r a t i o n ( D . P. A . ) o f t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f M a l t a , o r a comparable qualification, may also be admitted to the course. Subject to the provisions of the Principal Regulations, such applicants may be allowed by the Board of Studies to transfer these credits to the course. The number of credits so transferred shall not exceed 60 ECTS credits. Course duration. Programme of study. 4. The course shall extend over five years of part-time study. 5.
(1)The course shall consist of a number of taught studyunits to which 180 ECTS credits shall be assigned.
(2)Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Diploma.
(3)Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which a total of 90 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the course, shall be entitled to the Higher Diploma. Publication of programme of study.
- The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the course. Classification of the Awards.
- The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Degree, the Higher Diploma and the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained in all components of the programme of study, all credits being weighted equally.
