(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Tourism Studies) - B.A. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.

- “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy; “the Board of Studies” means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Tourism Studies) - B.A. (Hons); “the Degree” means the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Tourism Studies) – B.A. (Hons); “the Diploma” means the Diploma in Tourism Studies; “the Higher Diploma” means the Higher Diploma in Tourism Studies; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards,
- Bye-Laws 3, 5, 6 and 7 of these bye-laws shall apply from 15 th May, 2021 onwards. (ii) Bye-Law 4 of these bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October 2021 or later. 3.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the course, applicants must satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations of the University.
(2)Applicants who are in possession of a qualification comprising not less than 60 ECTS credits classified at Level 5 on the Malta Qualifications Framework, in an area of study related to Hospitality Management or Tourism Studies, may be admitted to Year 2 of the Course under those conditions as the Board may impose. - The course shall extend over a period of three years of fulltime study or their equivalent in part-time study. Course programme. Amended by: L.N. 243 of

(1)The Course shall consist of study-units to which 180 ECTS credits shall be assigned.
(2)The Board shall publish the programme of study before the commencement of each course, following the approval of Senate. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the studyunits and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study, provided that programmes of study shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.
(3)Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course or, having proceeded, do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Diploma.
(4)Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units to which 120 ECTS credits have been assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course or, having proceeded, do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Higher Diploma. (1)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree followed on a full-time basis shall be based on the results obtained in the three years of the Course, which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 15% Second Year Average Mark 20% Third Year Average Mark 65%.
(2)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree followed on a part-time basis shall be based on the results obtained in the five years of the Course, which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 10% Second Year Average Mark 15% Third Year Average Mark 20% Fourth Year Average Mark 25% Fifth Year Average Mark 30%.
(3)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Higher Diploma and the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained in all components of the programme of study, all credits being weighted equally.
