Whenever the number of students that may be admitted to the Community Nursing and Mental Health Nursing areas of study i n t e r m s o f b y e - la w 5 i s l im it ed b y S e n a t e i n t er m s o f th e provisions of bye-law 10 of the Bye-Laws of 2005 for the Bachelor of Science (Honours), and the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of places in the course, the selection of applicants shall be made according to the criteria listed in bye-law 4 of these bye-laws. (1)Applicants for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in the Community Nursing area of study who satisfy the Special Course Requirements as laid down in the bye-laws for the course shall be awarded marks according to the following criteria: Criteria for selection.   1. a)academic qualifications (45% weighting): (
  2. i)applicants obtaining overall percentage marks of between 80 and 100 in the Higher Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or equivalent grade points shall be awarded 45 marks; (

  32. ii)[ S.L.327.392 be awarded 6 marks; applicants having 4 years relevant work experience in a non-community setting shall be awarded 4 marks; applicants having 3 years relevant work experience in a community setting shall be awarded 5 marks; applicants having 3 years relevant work experience in a non-community setting shall be awarded 3 marks; applicants having 2 years relevant work experience in a community setting shall be awarded 4 marks; applicants having 2 years relevant work experience in a non-community setting shall be awarded 2 marks; applicants having 1 year relevant work experience in a community setting shall be awarded 2 marks; applicants having 1 year relevant work experience in a non-community setting shall be awarded 1 mark, provided that the date used for the purpose of calculating the years of work experience in gainful employment shall be that of the commencement of the Course. Applicants with experience in both community and non-community settings shall be allocated marks as detailed above up to a maximum of 25 marks; (
  33. c)successful completion of the ‘Clinical Education in Practice’ (HSC4061) or ‘Mentorship’ (NUR3227) study-unit or a unit deemed by the Board of Studies to be equivalent, and holding 2 academic years of experience as a clinical supervisor in undergraduate Health Sciences programmes offered by the University of Malta (15% weighting); and (
  34. d)successful completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses of at least 2 ECTS credits during the three years preceding the date of commencement of the Course for a maximum of 5 courses (15% weighting - 3 marks per CPD course).
(2)Applicants for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in the Mental Health Nursing area of study who satisfy the Special Course Requirements as laid down in the bye-laws for the course shall be awarded marks according to the following criteria: (
  1. a)academic qualifications (50% weighting): (

  4. iv)applicants obtaining overall percentage marks of between 70 and 79 in the Higher Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or equivalent grade points shall be awarded 30 marks; (
  5. v)applicants obtaining overall percentage marks of between 45 and 69 in the Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent grade points shall be awarded 25 marks; (
  6. vi)applicants obtaining overall percentage marks of between 45 and 69 in the Higher Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or equivalent grade points shall be awarded 20 marks; (vii) applicants not in possession of the Higher Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies), the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or the Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing but holding State Registration as a psychiatric nurse or nurse shall be awarded 20 marks; (
  7. b)work experience in gainful employment in a mental health setting (20% weighting): (
  8. i)applicants having more than 10 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 10 marks; (
  9. ii)applicants having between 6 and 9 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 8 marks; (iii) applicants having 5 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 5 marks; (
  10. iv)applicants having 4 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 4 marks; (
  11. v)applicants having 3 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 3 marks; (
  12. vi)applicants having 2 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 2 marks; (vii) applicants having 1 year relevant experience shall be awarded 1 mark. work (
