L.S. 327.395 Ordinamenti għas-Certificate in Clinical Nursing Practice taħt il-patroċinju tal-Fakultà tax-Xjenzi tas-Saħħa

(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws of 2010 for the Certificate in Clinical Nursing Practice - under the auspices of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Health Sciences; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed for each area of study; "the course" means the programme of study leading to the Certificate in Clinical Nursing Practice; "the Certificate" means the Certificate in Clinical Nursing Practice; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards. S.L. 327.236 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2010 or later. Applicability. applicable for courses 3.

(1)Applicants for the course shall be in possession of the following qualifications: Requirements for admission. (

1. a)a diploma in Nursing awarded by the University of Malta; or (
2. b)a professional qualification deemed by Senate to be equivalent to the qualification indicated in subparagraph (a).

(2)Unless otherwise stated by the Board at the time of the call for applications, applicants must be working in the same clinical area for which they are applying and must have a minimum of one year’s work experience in the same area. 4. Applicants shall be required to indicate their choice of area of study at the time of applying for admission to the course. Choice of area of study. 5. The Board shall, after approval by Senate, determine the number of applicants that may be allowed to register depending on the availability of resources. The Board shall, however, announce the number of available places at the time of the call for applications. Number of applicants. 6. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available places, the Board shall select applicants according to the following criteria: Selection of applicants. 2 [ S.L.327.395 CERTIFICATE IN CLINICAL NURSING PRACTICE - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES (

1. i)relevant work experience in gainful employment (30% weighting): (
2. a)applicants having more than 15 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 30 marks; (
3. b)applicants having between 10 and 15 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 25 marks; (
4. c)applicants having between 5 and 10 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 20 marks; (
5. d)applicants having less than 5 years relevant work experience shall be awarded 15 marks; (
6. ii)currently working as a clinical supervisor in undergraduate Health Sciences programmes (25% weighting); (iii) successful completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses during the past three years for a maximum of five courses (30% weighting 6 marks per CPD); (
7. iv)successful completion of other professional and/or academic related courses during the past three years for a maximum of five courses (15% weighting - 3 marks per course). Course duration. 7. The Course shall extend over a period of two semesters of part-time study. Areas of study. 8. The areas of study offered in any particular year shall be published by the Board, after approval by Senate, before the commencement of each course. Programme of study. 9. The course shall consist of a number of study-units to which 30 credits shall be assigned. Changes in studyunits. 10. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study, provided this is drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations. Result of the Award. 11.

(1)The Certificate shall be awarded to students who obtain all the credits indicated in bye-law 9.

(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Certificate shall be published in a list in alphabetical order.
