(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws of 2011 for the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies - B.Sc. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty for the Built Environment.
(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty for the Built Environment; "the course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies B.Sc. (Hons); "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies - B.Sc. (Hons); and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards. S.L. 327.236 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2013 or later. courses Applicability. Amended by: L.N. 36 of 2014. 3. To be registered as regular students in the course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations, be in possession of the special course requirements listed hereunder: Special course requirements for admission.   1. a)the Diploma in Design Foundation Studies; and (
  2. b)two passes at Advanced Matriculation Level at Grade C or better in: (
  3. i)Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics (Mechanics); and (
  4. ii)Physics; and (
  5. c)a pass at Intermediate Matriculation Level in one of the following subjects: Applied Mathematics (Mechanics) (unless offered at Advanced Matriculation Level), Art, Chemistry, Computing, Engineering Drawing and Graphical Communication, English, History, Information Technology, Philosophy, Pure Mathematics (unless offered at Advanced Matriculation Level), and Sociology. 1 2 [ S.L.327.409 DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (HONOURS) IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT STUDIES - B.Sc. (Hons) - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT Course duration. 4. The course shall extend over a period of three years of fulltime study. Programme of study. 5. The Board shall publish the programme of study before the commencement of each course. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme of study is drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations. Registration. 6. Students shall be required to register and pass in studyunits to which a total of 180 credits are assigned. Classification of the Award. 7. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in the three years of the course, which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 20% Second Year Average Mark 30% Third Year Average Mark 50%.
