- These bye-laws shall apply to the course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) – B.Sc. (Hons) - at the Faculty of Dental Surgery commencing in October 2012 or later. Applicability
- Whenever the number of students that may be admitted to any area of study offered in the Course is limited by Senate in terms of the provisions of bye-law 6 of the Bye-Laws of 2012 for the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours), and the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of places available, the selection of applicants shall be made according to the criteria listed in bye-laws 3 and 4 of these bye-laws. (1)Applicants for the Dental Hygiene area of study who satisfy the general and special course requirements as laid down in the bye-laws for the course shall be selected from amongst all eligible applicants according to the following categories, listed in order of preference: Criteria for Selection Amended by: L.N. 227 of 2014; L.N. 337 of

(1)Applicants for the Dental Technology area of study who satisfy the general and special course requirements as laid down in the bye-laws for the course shall be selected from amongst all eligible applicants according to the following categories, listed in order of preference: 1st Category: 2nd Category: 3rd Category: 4th Category: 5th Category: those with a pass or better in the Diploma in Dental Surgery Assistance those with grades 'A' to 'E' in Chemistry or Biology at Advanced Level those with a grade 'A' in Chemistry or Biology at Intermediate Level those with a grade 'B' in Chemistry or Biology at Intermediate Level those with a grade 'C' in Chemistry or Biology at Intermediate Level

- If the number of eligible applicants falling in any category of applicants eligible to be admitted in terms of the provisions of these bye-laws is such that the total number of applicants to be admitted exceeds the number of places established by Senate the eligible applicants in that category shall be interviewed by the Faculty Admissions Committee appointed by the Board in order to fill the remaining place/s. The Faculty Admissions Committee shall take into consideration the applicants’ aptitude, motivation and communication skills. The Committee, which may be assisted by any experts it deems necessary when conducting the selection interviews, shall submit a detailed report including its final recommendation regarding the selection of the applicants to the University Admissions Board.
