(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) – (BFA) (Hons) - in Digital Arts under the auspices of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences.

- In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires: “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) – (BFA) (Hons) - in Digital Arts; “the D egree” means the degree of B achelor o f Fine A rts (Honours) – (BFA) (Hons) - in Digital Arts; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019..

(1)To be registered as regular students in the course applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations of the University. - a)satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University and be in possession of a Grade C or better at Advanced Level in Art; or (
- b)be in possession of the Diploma in Design Foundation Studies from the University of Malta; or (
- c)be in possession of a qualification comprising not less than 60 ECTS credits (or equivalent), classified at Level 5 on the Malta Qualifications Framework in an area deemed relevant by the Board, together with an Advanced Level pass at grade C or better in one of the following subjects English, Graphical Communication, History, Information Technology, Marketing, Philosophy, Sociology, or a subject (other than Art) deemed comparable by the Board, together with passes at SEC Level at Grade 5 or better in English Language, Mathematics and Maltese; or 2 [ S.L.327.469 DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS (HONOURS) - (BFA) (HONS) - IN DIGITAL ARTS UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF MEDIA AND KNOWLEDGE SCIENCES (
- d)be in possession of a transcript showing passes in 120 ECTS credits in respect of the first two years of study in a three-year MCAST Bachelor’s degree course in an Art and Design related subject, together with passes at SEC Level at Grade 5 or better in English Language, Mathematics and Maltese.
(2)Applicants applying under paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admission Regulations who are not in possession of the qualifications listed in paragraph
(1)of this bye-law must present other professional qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Board that they have reached the academic standard to follow the Course with profit.
(3)All applicants shall be required to present a portfolio of their recent works and may further be required to attend for an interview in order to assess their suitability to follow the Course with profit. Applicants who are unsuccessful in the interview shall not be admitted to the Course.
(4)The interviewing board, which shall be composed of at least three members, shall determine the applicants’ eligibility to join the course. The criteria for determining the eligibility of applicants shall be published at the time of the call for applications. Course duration. Programme of study. 4. The course shall extend over three years of full-time study. 5.
(1)The Board shall publish the programme of study before the commencement of the course. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme of study is drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.
(2)Students shall be required to register and pass in study-units to which a total of 180 ECTS credits are assigned. Classification of the Award. 6. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in the three years of the course, which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 30% Second Year Average Mark 30% Third Year Average Mark 40%.
