(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Bachelor of Humanities - B.Hums - under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts.
(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Arts; "the Certificate" means the Certificate of Humanities; "the course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Humanities - B.Hums; "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Humanities B.Hums; "the Diploma" means the Diploma of Humanities; "the Faculty" means the Faculty of Arts; "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards; and S.L. 327.236 "the University" means the University of Malta. 2. These bye-laws shall be applicable commencing in 30th April, 2020 onwards. for courses Applicability. Amended by: L.N. 213 of 2020. 3.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the course, applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations. Requirements for admission.

(2)(a)(iii) of th e Ad m i s s i on R e g u la t i on s m u s t b e i n p os s e s s i o n o f t h os e qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Faculty Admissions Committee that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the course with profit. The eligibility of such applicants shall be decided by the Faculty Admissions Committee, following an interview conducted by an interviewing board appointed for the purpose.
(3)The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three persons.

- The programme of study shall consist of study-units to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned. Subject to time-table constraints, students may register for study-units from any area of study offered by the Faculty, provided that not more than 40% of the credits are taken from the same area of study, which concession shall apply to one area of study only. Students may also register for up to 25% of the credits for units offered by other faculties and academic entities within the University. Certificate.
- Students who are awarded 30 ECTS credits and opt not to proceed with the course or, having proceeded, do not successfully complete the course, shall be entitled to the Certificate. Diploma.
- Students who are awarded 60 ECTS credits and opt not to proceed with the course or, having proceeded, do not successfully complete the course, shall be entitled to the Diploma. Classification of the Award.
- The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Degree and the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained during the course, all credits being weighted equally. Special provisions for part-time courses.
- The provisions of the foregoing bye-laws shall apply mutatis mutandis to courses followed on a part-time basis, and subject to such changes as may reasonably be deemed by the Board of Studies as necessary due to the part-time nature of the course.
