(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Wellbeing Studies B.A. ( Hon s) - un der th e au spi ces of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing.

In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires – “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing; “the Board of Studies” means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; “the Certificate” means the Certificate of Social Wellbeing Studies; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Wellbeing Studies B.A. (Hons); “the Degree” means the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Wellbeing Studies - B.A. (Hons); “the Diploma” means the Diploma of Social Wellbeing Studies; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards,

(1)To be registered as regular students in the course, applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations. Requirements for admission. Amended by: L.N. 217 of 2018.

(2)Applicants considered as “Adult Learners” (mature applicants) in terms of paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Faculty Admissions Committee that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for the Course together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) (3)The eligibility of applicants referred to in paragraph

(2)of this bye-law shall be decided by the University Admissions Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Admissions Committee, following an interview conducted by an interviewing board appointed for the purpose.

(4)The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three persons.

(5)In accordance with the provisions of paragraph

(1)of regulation 15 of the Admissions Regulations, applicants in possession of the Higher Diploma in Community Access for Disabled People of this University or a comparable qualification in a related area, or applicants who have obtained credits for study-units considered by the Board of Studies to be equivalent to those in the programme of study, may be admitted into any year of the Course under those conditions as the Board may impose and follow a programme of study as directed by the Board of Studies. Course duration. 4. The course shall extend over a period of three years of fulltime study or the equivalent in part-time (day) studies. Programme of study. 5.

(1)The course shall consist of study-units to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned.

(2)The Board shall publish the programme of study for the Degree, drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations, and approved by Senate, prior to the commencement of the course. Certificate.

1. Students who successfully complete study-units to which 30 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the course or, having proceeded, do not successfully complete the course, shall be entitled to the Certificate. Diploma.
2. Students who successfully complete study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the course or, having proceeded, do not successfully complete the course shall be entitled to the Diploma. Credits.
3. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the course. Classification of the Awards. Substituted by: L.N. 124 of

(1)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree followed on full-time basis shall be based on the results obtained in the three years of the full-time Course which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 20% Second Year Average Mark 40% Third Year Average Mark 40%.

(2)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree followed on part-time basis shall be based on the results BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN SOCIAL WELLBEING STUDIES - B.A. (HONS) [ S.L.327.553 3 obtained in the five years of the part-time Course which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 10% Second Year Average Mark 20% Third Year Average Mark 20% Fourth Year Average Mark 25% Fifth Year Average Mark 25%.

(3)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained, all credits being weighted equally.. 10. The provisions of the foregoing bye-laws shall apply mutatis mutandis to courses followed on a part-time basis, and subject to such changes as may reasonably be deemed by the Board of Studies as necessary due to the part-time nature of the course.
