DIP. - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE INSTITUTE OF AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGIES* 7th October, 2016 LEGAL NOTICE 329 of 2016, as amended by Legal Notices 322 of 2017. 1.
(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws for the Higher Diploma in Aviation - H.Dip. - under the auspices of the Institute of Aerospace Technologies.
(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Institute of Aerospace Technologies; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the course, on the recommendation of the Board; "the Certificate" means the Certificate in Aviation; "the course" means the programme of study leading to the Higher Diploma in Aviation - H.Dip.; "the Diploma" means the Diploma in Aviation; and "the Higher Diploma" means the Higher Diploma in Aviation H. Dip. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2017 or later. applicable for courses Applicability. Amended by: L.N. 322 of 2017. 3.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations, be in possession of a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level at Grade C or better in Physics. Special requirements for admission. Amended by: L.N. 322 of 2017.
(2)If not already in possession of an EASA/FAA-issued Air Transport Pilot License, applicants must be enrolled on a pilot training course leading to such a qualification, or equivalent, within six months of the start of the course.
(3)If applicants have other qualifications considered to be sufficient, they may be exempted by the University Admissions Board, on the advice of the Institute Admissions Committee, from the whole or part of these special course requirements. 4. The course shall extend over a period of three semesters of full-time study or the equivalent in part-time study, which may include the summer period. Course duration. 5.
(1)The course shall comprise taught study-units to which a total of 90 ECTS credits shall be assigned. (2)Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units totalling 30 ECTS credits and opt not to proceed with the course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the course, shall be entitled to the Certificate.
(3)Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units totalling 60 ECTS credits and opt not to proceed with the course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the course, shall be entitled to the Diploma.
(4)Students shall be eligible for the award of the Higher Diploma if they obtain the 90 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the course. Publication of programme of study. 6. The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the course. Classification of the Awards. 7.
(1)The overall evaluation of each student’s performance in the course for the purpose of the classification of the Diploma and the Higher Diploma shall be based on the results obtained, all credits awarded being weighted equally.
(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Diploma and Higher Diploma shall be published in a list in alphabetical order classified as follows: Pass with Distinction Pass with Merit Pass.
(3)Special provisions for part-time courses. The Certificate shall be awarded unclassified. 8. The provisions of the foregoing bye-laws shall apply mutatis mutandis to courses followed on a part-time basis, and subject to such changes as may reasonably be deemed by the Board of Studies as necessary due to the part-time nature of the course.
