(1)The title of these bye-laws is the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Biochemistry - B.Sc. (Hons) Med. Biochem. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the Faculty of Science.

(2)Citation and interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the course, on the recommendations of the Boards of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and of the Faculty of Science; "the course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Biochemistry - B.Sc. (Hons) Med. Biochem.; "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Biochemistry - B.Sc. (Hons) Med. Biochem; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards. S.L. 327.236 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2017 or later. Applicability. applicable for courses 3. To be registered as regular students in the course, applicants shall: Special course requirements for admission. (

1. a)satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations; and (
2. b)be in possession of two passes at Advanced Matriculation Level at grade C or better in Biology and Chemistry; and (
3. c)be in possession of a pass at Intermediate Matriculation Level in one of the following subjects: Computing or Physics or Pure Mathematics. 4. The Board of Studies shall recommend to Senate the number of applicants that may be allowed to register on the course, depending on the availability of resources. The number of available places shall be announced at the time of the call for applications. Senate shall approve bye-laws for the selection of applicants into the course. Number of applicants. The course shall extend over a period of three years of fulltime study. Programme of study. Renumbered by: L.N. 303 of 2022. 6. The Board of Studies shall publish the programme of study before the commencement of each course. Subject to changes that t h e B o a r d o f St u d i e s m a y, w i t h t h e a p p r o v a l o f S e n a t e , b e constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations. Registration. Renumbered by: L.N. 303 of 2022. 7. Students shall be required to register and pass in studyunits to which a total of 180 ECTS credits are assigned. Classification of the Degree. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in the three years of the Course, all study-units being weighted equally.
