DIPLOMA IN AVIATION MAINTENANCE [ S.L.327.579 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 327.579 BYE-LAWS IN TERMS OF THE GENERAL REGULATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS, FOR THE DIPLOMA IN AVIATION MAINTENANCE UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE INSTITUTE OF AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGIES 20th November, 2017 LEGAL NOTICE 320 of 2017, as amended by Legal Notice 130 of 2019. 1.
(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, for the Diploma in Aviation Maintenance under the auspices of the Institute of Aerospace Technologies. Citation and Interpretation.
(2)In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires “the Board” means the Board of the Institute of Aerospace Technologies; “the Certificate” means the Certificate in Aviation Maintenance; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the Diploma in Aviation Maintenance; and “the Diploma” means the Diploma in Aviation Maintenance. 2. These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October 2019 or later. Applicability. Amended by: L.N.130 of 2019. 3.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations, be in possession of: Requirements for Admission. Amended by: L.N.130 of 2019. (
- a)a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level at Grade C or better in Physics, and a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level in one other subject; or (
- b)the EASA Part 66 License or equivalent; or (
- c)a technical diploma (such as HND/HTD) or equivalent.
(2)If applicants have other qualifications considered to be sufficient, they may be exempted by the University Admissions Board, on the advice of the Institute Admissions Committee, from t he w h o le o r p a r t o f t h e s e s p e c i a l c o ur s e r e q u i r e m en t s f o r admission.
(3)Admission to the Course may, with the approval of Senate, be restricted to applicants who are nominated by an organisation that commissions the Course, provided that such applicants are 2 [ S.L.327.579 DIPLOMA IN AVIATION MAINTENANCE eligible for admission in terms of paragraphs
(1)and
(2)of this bye-law. Such restriction shall be announced at the time of the call for applications. Course Duration. 4. The Course shall extend over a period of four semesters of part-time study and two summer periods. Course Programme. 5.
(1)The Course shall comprise taught study-units to which a total of 60 ECTS credits shall be assigned.
(2)Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units totalling 30 ECTS credits with an average mark of at least 50% and do not proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Certificate. 6. The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course. Classification of the Awards. 7.
(1)The overall evaluation of each student’s performance in the Course for the purpose of the classification of the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained, all credits awarded being weighted equally.
(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Diploma shall be published in a list in alphabetical order classified as follows: Pass with Distinction Pass with Merit Pass.
(3)The Certificate shall be awarded unclassified.
