(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2018 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Degree of Bachelor in Performing Arts (Honours) - B. Perf. Arts (Hons) - under the auspices of the School of Performing Arts.

(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the School of Performing Arts; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor in Performing Arts (Honours) - B. Perf. Arts (Hons); “the Degree” means the degree of Bachelor in Performing Arts (Honours) - B. Perf. Arts (Hons); “the Diploma” means the Diploma in Performing Arts - Dip. Perf. Arts; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2018 or later. applicable for courses 3.

(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants must satisfy the general entry requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University.

(2)Applicants considered as “Adult Learners” (mature applicants) in terms of paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Board that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for this Course together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae (C.V.). (3)The eligibility of applicants referred to in paragraph

(2)of this bye-law shall be decided by the Board, following an interview conducted by a board appointed for the purpose.

(4)The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three members. Course Duration

1. The Course shall extend over three years of full-time study, or five years of part-time study when the Course is offered on a part-time basis. Programme of Study
2. The programme of study shall comprise study-units to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned and shall consist mainly of study-units in the areas of Dance, Theatre and Music Studies divided more or less equally among the three areas. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme of study shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.
3. Students who successfully complete study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned, and opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded, do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Diploma.
4. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course. Classification of the Awards 8.

(1)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained during the Course, which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark 30% Second Year Average Mark 30% Third Year Average Mark 40%

(2)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained in successfully completed study-units. Special Provisions for Part-Time Courses 9. The provisions of the foregoing bye-laws shall apply mutatis mutandis to courses followed on a part-time basis, and subject to such changes as may reasonably be deemed by the Board of Studies as necessary due to the part-time nature of the Course.
