(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Sector Accounting - B.A. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.

(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - ''the Board'' means the Board of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy; ''the Board of Studies'' means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; ''the Certificate'' means the Certificate in Public Sector Accounting; ''the Course'' means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Sector Accounting B.A. (Hons); ''the Degree'' means the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Sector Accounting - B.A. (Hons); ''the Diploma'' means the Diploma in Public Sector Accounting; and ''the Higher Diploma'' means the Higher Diploma in Public Sector Accounting – H.Dip.; and ''the Principal Regulations'' means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2018 or later. 3.

(1)applicable for courses To be registered as regular students in the Course, Applicability Requirements for Admission 2 [ S.L. 327.596 BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN PUBLIC SECTOR ACCOUNTING - B.A. (HONS) - applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University.

(2)Applicants admitted under paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Faculty Admissions Committee that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit.

(3)Admission to the Course may, with the approval of Senate, be restricted to applicants who are nominated by the Public Service provided they are eligible for admission in terms of paragraphs

(1)or

(2)of this bye-law.

(4)Senate, on the recommendation of the Board, shall determine the number of applicants that may be allowed to register for the Course, depending on the availability of resources. The number of available places shall be announced at the time of the call for applications.

(5)If there are more eligible applicants than the number of places available, the selected applicants shall be nominated by the Public Service.

(6)Applicants in possession of the Higher Diploma in Public Accounting and Finance of this University, who have obtained ECTS credits for study-units considered by the Board of Studies to be equivalent to those in the programme of study, may also be admitted to the Course. Subject to the provisions of the Principal Regulations, such applicants may be allowed by the Board of Studies to transfer these credits to the Course. The number of credits so transferred shall not exceed 90 ECTS credits. Course Duration

1. The Course shall extend over a period of five years of parttime study. Programme of Study

The programme of study, which shall comprise study-units to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned, shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of each Course. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme of study shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.

Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which 30 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Certificate. 4. Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Diploma.
5. Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which a total of 90 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Higher Diploma.
6. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course.
7. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Diploma, the Higher Diploma and the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in each year of the Course, all credits being weighted equally. Classification of the Awards
8. The Bye-Laws of 2010 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Higher Diploma in Public Accounting and Finance - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, published as Legal Notice 409 of 2010, shall be deemed to cease to be in force as from the 30 th September 2018, provided that students registered for this course before the 1 st October 2018 shall continue to be governed by the bye-laws that were in force at the time of their joining the course.
