L.P. -UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF LAWS 30th October, 2018 LEGAL NOTICE 350 of 2018. 1.

(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Higher Diploma of Legal Procurator - H.Dip. L.P. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Laws.
(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires – “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Laws; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the Higher Diploma of Legal Procurator - H.Dip. L.P.; “the Higher Diploma” means the Higher Diploma of Legal Procurator - H.Dip. L.P; and “the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004. 2. These bye-laws shall apply to courses commencing in October 2018 or later. Applicability 3.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations, be in possession of the special course requirements listed hereunder: Special Course Requirements (
  1. a)two passes at Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation Level or equivalent in English and Maltese, and three passes at Intermediate Matriculation Level or equivalent, one of which at grade C or better, in subjects chosen as follows: one subject from Group 2, one subject from Group 3, and another subject (except English and Maltese); or (
  2. b)for entry in October 2020 or later, a degree at MQF level 6 in any area of study awarded by the University of Malta or any other higher education institution recognized by Senate, and a pass at 1 2 [ S.L. 327.604 HIGHER DIPLOMA OF LEGAL PROCURATOR - H.DIP. L.P. -UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF LAWS Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation level or equivalent in Maltese, provided that if the degree is in Maltese, a pass at Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation Level or equivalent in English is also required.
(2)For entry in October 2020 or later, applicants considered as “Adult Learners” (mature applicants) in terms of paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations, apart from being in possession of those qualifications or experience that would satisfy the Faculty Admissions Committee that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit, shall also be in possession of a pass at Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation Level in English and in Maltese or equivalent. Such applicants shall also be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for the Course together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae (C.V.). Duration of Course 4. The Course shall extend over a period of four semesters of full-time study. Programme of Study 5.
(1)The programme of study shall comprise of a number of taught study-units to which a total of 120 ECTS credits are assigned.
(2)The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course. Assessment and Progress 6.
(1)The assessment of each taught study-unit shall be completed by the end of the semester in which the teaching of the study-unit is held.
(2)Students must attend at least 80% of the lecture programme prescribed for a study-unit before they can be allowed to present themselves for any formal assessment of the study-unit. Classification of the Award 7.
(1)The overall evaluation of each student’s performance in the Course for the purpose of the classification of the Higher Diploma shall be based on the results obtained, all credits awarded being weighted equally.
(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Higher Diploma shall be published in a list in alphabetical order classified as follows: Pass with Distinction Pass with Merit Pass.
