CERTIFICATE FOR GRADUATES OF NON-EU/EEA NURSING PROGRAMMES UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES [ S.L. 327.609 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 327.609 BYE-LAWS IN TERMS OF THE GENERAL REGULATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS, 2004 FOR THE CERTIFICATE FOR GRADUATES OF NON-EU/EEA NURSING PROGRAMMES UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES 9th November, 2018 LEGAL NOTICE 369 of 2018, as amended by Legal Notice 308 of 2019, 361 of 2022 and 169 of 2026. 1.

(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Certificate for Graduates of Non-EU/EEA Nursing Programmes, under the auspices of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Health Sciences; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed for the Course; "the Course" means the programme of study leading to the Certificate for Graduates of Non-EU/EEA Nursing Programmes; "the Certificate" means the Certificate for Graduates of Non-EU/ EEA Nursing Programmes; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2019 or later. applicable for courses Applicability Amended by: L.N. 308 of 2019. 3.
(1)possession of: The Course shall be open to applicants in (
  1. a)a qualification in Nursing deemed suitable by the Board of Studies and recognized at least at Level 5 on the Malta and European Qualifications Frameworks; or Requirements for Admission  Substituted by: L.N. 361 of 2022. Amended by: L.N. 169 of 2026. (
  2. b)a professional qualification deemed by Senate to be comparable to the qualification indicated in subparagraph (

(2)In addition to the qualifications listed in paragraph
(1)of this bye-law, applicants shall be required to provide evidence that they are in possession of a valid licence to practice as a nurse awarded by the relevant regulatory council of the country from where the qualification referred to in paragraph
(1)was awarded.
  1. Senate, on the advice of the Board, may limit the number of students that may be admitted to the Course depending on the availability of resources. The Board shall announce the number of available places at the time of the call for applications.

  3. Once accepted to the Course, students are also required to undergo an occupational health assessment so as to ascertain that they are fit for the duties related to their proposed studies. Students who do not fulfil this requirement may be barred from progressing with their studies. Failure to disclose information about a physical or mental health problem that could affect patient safety is considered to be a serious breach of the University Suitability to Practise Regulations. Students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated by the Board of Studies, which shall be tasked to ensure that gaps in the training received by the students in the NonEU/EEA nursing programmes are addressed and that students received adequate training to ensure compliance with the EU directive for Nurse Education (Directive 2005/36/EC) and thus, are eligible for registration with the relevant regulatory Council/s. 10.
(1)The Certificate shall be awarded to students who obtain all the credits indicated in bye-law 8.
(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Certificate shall be published in a list in alphabetical order.
