CERT [ S.L. 327.624 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 327.624 BYE-LAWS IN TERMS OF THE GENERAL REGULATIONS FOR UNIVERSITY POSTGRADUATE AWARDS FOR THE POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN THE TEACHING OF CORE SCIENCE AND APPLIED SCIENCE -- P.G. CERT. - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION * 2nd April, 2019 LEGAL NOTICE 56 of 2019. 1.
(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws in terms of the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards for the Postgraduate Certificate in the Teaching of Core Science and Applied Science - P.G. Cert. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Education.
(2)Citation and Interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Education; “the Certificate” means the Postgraduate Certificate in the Teaching of Core Science and Applied Science - P.G. Cert.; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the Postgraduate Certificate in the Teaching of Core Science and Applied Science - P.G. Cert.; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in February 2019 or later. applicable for courses 3. To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall be in possession of: (
- a)the degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) with specialization in Biology or Chemistry or Physics; or (
- b)a first cycle degree together with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education with specialization in Science; or *These bye-laws have been repealed by Legal Notice 185 of 2022. Applicability Requirements for Admission 2 [ S.L. 327.624 POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN THE TEACHING OF CORE SCIENCE AND APPLIED SCIENCE P.G. CERT (
- c)a first cycle and/or second cycle degree or higher in Science and a permanent teacher’s warrant; or (
- d)any other recognized teaching qualification in Science and a permanent teacher’s warrant. Course Duration 4. The Course shall extend over a period of two semesters of part-time study. Programme of Study 5. The Programme of Study shall consist of a number of study-units to which 30 ECTS credits shall be assigned. 6. The Board shall publish the programme of study drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations and approved by Senate. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study. Assessment and Progress 7.
(1)The assessment of each taught study-unit shall be completed by the end of the semester in which the teaching of the study-unit is held.
(2)Students who fail in the assessment of not more than 10 ECTS credits for taught study-units shall be given the opportunity to re-sit the failed assessments during the September supplementary examination session.
(3)Students who fail in more than the number of credits permitted under paragraph
(2)of this bye-law or students who after re-assessment fail to obtain credit for any study-unit, shall be deemed to have failed the Course. Result of the Award 8.
(1)The Certificate shall be awarded to students who obtain all the credits indicated in bye-law 5.
(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Certificate shall be published in a list in alphabetical order.
