CERTIFICATE IN SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE [ S.L. 327.651 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 327.651 BYE-LAWS FOR THE CERTIFICATE IN SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF THEOLOGY AND THE FACULTY FOR SOCIAL WELLBEING 28th July, 2020 LEGAL NOTICE 299 of 2020, as amended by Legal Notice 168 of 2021. 1.
(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of for the Certificate in Safeguarding of Children and Young People under the auspices of the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty for Social Wellbeing.
(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board of Studies” means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendations of the Boards of the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty for Social Wellbeing; “the Certificate” means the Certificate in Safeguarding of Children and Young People; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the Certificate in Safeguarding of Children and Young People; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2021 or later. applicable for courses Applicability Amended by: L.N. 168 of 2021. 3.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University. Requirements for Admission Amended by: L.N. 168 of 2021.
(2)Applicants admitted as “Adult Learners” under paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the interviewing board, through an interview, that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for joining the Course, together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae.
(3)Applicants admitted in terms of paragraph
(2)of this byelaw shall be in possession of a pass in an English language proficiency test as approved by the University before being admitted to the Course, provided that applicants in possession of a Secondary Education Certificate pass at Grade 3 or higher in English Language or a pass at 2 [ S.L. 327.651 CERTIFICATE IN SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE the same standard in a comparable qualification, shall be exempt from this requirement.
(4)The interviewing board shall be appointed by the Boards of the Faculties offering the Course. It shall be composed of at least three members. Course Duration
- The Course shall extend over a period of two semesters of part-time study. Programme of Study
- The programme of study shall comprise study-units to which a total of 30 ECTS credits are assigned.
- Subject to changes that the Boards may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Course.
- The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course.
