(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of Bachelor of Arts - B.A. - under the auspices of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing.
(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing; “the Degree” means the degree of Bachelor of Arts - B.A.; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts - B.A.; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2020 or later. applicable for courses 3.
(1)The Course shall be offered in any combination of areas of study that fall within the academic responsibility of the Board. Subject to approval by Senate, the Board may also allow any of the areas of study offered by the Faculty to be offered jointly with other areas of study which fall under the responsibility of other academic entities within the University, following prior approval by the respective Faculty Board. (2)The permissible combinations of areas of study shall be published by the Board before the commencement of each Course and after approval by Senate, provided that in any year, combinations of areas of study shall be offered depending on the availability of resources. 4.
(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations.
(2)Applicants whose chosen second main area of study falls under the responsibility of other academic entities within the University shall be required to be in possession of those Requirements for Admission 2 [ S.L. 327.655 BACHELOR OF ARTS - B.A. - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY FOR SOCIAL WELLBEING qualifications relevant to the area of study as indicated in the byelaws for the degree in the area of study offered under the auspices of the academic entity responsible for the discipline.
(3)Applicants considered as “Adult Learners” (mature applicants) in terms of paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Faculty Admissions Committee that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for the Course together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae (C.V.).
(4)The eligibility of applicants referred to in paragraph
(3)of this bye-law shall be decided by the Faculty Admissions Committee, following an interview conducted by an interviewing board appointed for the purpose.
(5)The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three persons. Course Duration
- The Course shall extend over a period of three years of full-time study. Programme of Study
- The programme of study for the Course shall consist of study-units to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned, of which not less than 80 ECTS credits shall be in each of the two main areas of study chosen.
- The Board shall publish the programme of study for the Degree prior to the commencement of the Course. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme of study shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.
- Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course. Classification of the Award
- The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in the three years of the Course which shall be weighted as follows: First Year Average Mark20% Second Year Average Mark40% Third Year Average Mark40%.
