(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Management B.A. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.

(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy; “the Board of Studies” means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Management - B.A. (Hons); “the Degree” means the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Management - B.A. (Hons); “the Diploma” means the Diploma in Public Management; “the Higher Diploma” means the Higher Diploma in Public Management - H.Dip.; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2020 or later. applicable for courses 3.

(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University.

1. i)Applicants admitted under paragraph (
2. c)of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of Applicability Requirements for Admission 2 [ S.L. 327.659 BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN PUBLIC MANAGEMENT - B.A. (HONS) - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS, MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTANCY those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Faculty Admissions Committee that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. (
3. ii)Applicants admitted in terms of sub-paragraph (
4. i)of paragraph

(2)of this bye-law, who on admission into the Course are not in possession of passes in English Language and Maltese at SEC level at Grade 3 or higher, shall be required to sit for proficiency tests in English and Maltese as approved by the University before being admitted to the Course. (iii) The eligibility of such applicants shall be decided by the Board of Studies, taking into consideration the performance of the applicants in the proficiency tests specified in sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph

(2)of this bye-law.

(3)Admission to the Course may, with the approval of Senate, be restricted to applicants who are nominated by an organisation that commissions the Course provided they are eligible for admission in terms of paragraphs

(1)or

(2)of this bye-law.

(4)The Board may recommend to Senate the number of students that may be admitted to the Course, depending on the resources available. If any such recommendation is made and approved, the number of available places shall be announced at the time of the call for applications.

(5)If there are more eligible applicants than the number of places available, applicants shall be selected after they have undertaken a written test, conducted by the Board of Studies, which shall make its recommendations taking the following criteria and weightings into consideration: (a) academic qualifications - 30%; (b) performance in the written test - 50%; and (c) experience of, and interest in, public administration - 20%.

(6)For the purpose of selection, applicants who fully satisfy the general entry requirements by 31 st August preceding the commencement of the Course shall be placed in rank order and those for whom places are available shall be accepted and informed accordingly.

(7)Applicants in possession of the Diploma in Public Administration (D.P.A.) of this University, or a comparable qualification, may also be admitted to the Course. Subject to the BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN PUBLIC MANAGEMENT - B.A. (HONS) - UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS, MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTANCY [ S.L. 327.659 provisions of the Principal Regulations, such applicants may be allowed by the Board of Studies to transfer the credits obtained to the Course. The number of credits so transferred shall not exceed 60 ECTS credits.

2. The programme of study, which shall comprise studyunits to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned, shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course. Course Duration Programme of Study
3. Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Diploma.
4. Students who successfully complete taught study-units to which a total of 90 ECTS credits are assigned and opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be entitled to the Higher Diploma.
5. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course.
6. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Degree, the Higher Diploma and the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained in all components of the programme of study, all credits being weighted equally. Classification of the Awards 3
