(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019 for the Diploma in Sport Administration and Management under the auspices of the Institute for Physical Education and Sport.

(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires – "the Board" means the Board of the Institute for Physical Education and Sport; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; "the Certificate" means the Certificate in Sport Administration and Management; "the Course" means the programme of study leading to the Diploma in Sport Administration and Management; "the Diploma" means the Diploma in Sport Administration and Management; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019. 2. These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October 2021 or later. 3.

(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University.

(2)Applicants are further required to be aged not less than 18 years within three calendar months from the commencement of the Course.

(3)Applicants admitted as “Adult Learners” under paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and experience that would satisfy the interviewing board, through an interview, that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for joining the Course, together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae. (4)Applicants admitted in terms of paragraph

(3)of this byelaw shall be in possession of a pass in an English language proficiency test as approved by the University before being admitted to the Course, provided that applicants in possession of a Secondary Education Certificate pass at Grade 3 or higher in English Language or a pass at the same standard in a comparable qualification, shall be exempt from this requirement.

(5)The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three members.

(6)All applicants shall produce certification with regard to their prior or current involvement in Physical Education and/or Sport.

(7)Applicants who apply without the requested qualifications listed above shall not be allowed to sit for the assessments of the study-units and shall be awarded a certificate of attendance, provided that they have attended at least 80% of the lectures. Course Duration. Programme of Study.

(8)Applicants in possession of the Certificate, who have obtained ECTS credit for study-units considered by the Board of Studies to be equivalent to those included in the programme of study for the Course, may also be admitted into the Course. Subject to the provisions of the Principal Regulations, such applicants may be allowed by the Board of Studies to transfer these credits to the Course. The number of credits so transferred shall not exceed 30 ECTS credits.

1. The Course shall extend over a period of two semesters of full-time study or four semesters of part-time study.
2. The programme of study shall comprise study-units to which a total of 60 ECTS credits are assigned.
3. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Course.
4. The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course.
5. Students who successfully complete study-units to which 30 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course shall be entitled to the award of the Certificate. Classification of the Award.
6. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Diploma if they obtain the 60 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course. 10.

(1)The overall evaluation of each student’s performance in the Course for the purpose of the classification of the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained in the Course, all credits being weighted equally.

(2)The names of students who qualify for the award of the Diploma shall be published in a list in alphabetical order classified as follows: SPORT ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT [ S.L. 327.666 Passed with Distinction. Passed with Merit. Passed.

(3)The Certificate shall be awarded unclassified. 11. The Bye-Laws of 2019 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Certificate in Sport Administration and Management under the auspices of the Institute for Physical Education and Sport, published as Legal Notice 54 of 2019, shall be deemed to cease to be in force as from the 30 September 2021, provided that students registered for this course before the 1 October 2021 shall continue to be governed by the bye-laws that were in force at the time of their joining the course. Repeal. 3
