(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019 for the Degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmacology - B.Sc. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

(2)requires - Citation and Interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; "the Course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmacology - B.Sc. (Hons); "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmacology - B.Sc. (Hons); "the Diploma" means the Diploma in Pharmacology; "the Higher Diploma" means the Higher Diploma in Pharmacology; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019. 2. These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October 2021 or later. Applicability. 3. To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations. be in possession of the following special course requirements: Special Course Requirements for Admission. 2 [ S.L. 327.676 BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (HONOURS) IN PHARMACOLOGY (

1. a)a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level at grade C or better in Biology, and; (
2. b)passes at Intermediate Matriculation Level in Chemistry and in one of the following subjects: Computing, Physics, Information Technology, Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. During the first year of the Course, accepted applicants are also required to undergo an occupational health assessment, as detailed in the Occupational Health Protocol approved by the Board, so as to ascertain that they are fit for the duties related to their proposed studies. Students who do not fulfil this requirement may be barred from progressing with their studies. Failure to disclose information about a physical or mental health problem that could affect patient safety is considered to be a serious breach of the University Suitability to Practise Regulations, 2016. Course Duration. Renumbered by: L.N. 305 of 2022; L.N. 175 of 2023. 5. The Course shall extend over a period of three years of full-time study. Programme of Study. Renumbered by: L.N. 305 of 2022; L.N. 175 of 2023. 6. The Board of Studies shall publish the programme of study before the commencement of each Course. Subject to changes that the Board of Studies may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme shall be drawn up in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations. Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course shall be entitled to the Diploma. Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units to which 120 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course shall be entitled to the Higher Diploma. Renumbered by: L.N. 305 of 2022; L.N. 175 of 2023. 9. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the classification of the Diploma, Higher Diploma and the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in each year of the Course, all study-units being weighted equally.
