(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Adult Education, Training and Development - B.A. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Education.

(2)Citation and Interpretation. In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Education; "the Board of Studies" means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; "the Certificate" means the Certificate in Adult Education, Training and Development; "the Course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Adult Education, Training and Development - B.A. (Hons); "the Degree" means the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Adult Education, Training and Development - B.A. (Hons); "the Diploma" means the Diploma in Adult Education, Training and Development; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2022 or later. applicable for courses 3.

(1)To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants must satisfy the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admissions Regulations of the University.

(2)Applicants admitted as “Adult Learners” under paragraph (c) of regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications, aptitude and experience that Applicability. Requirements for Admission. 2 [ S.L. 327.683 BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN ADULT EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT B.A. (HONS) would satisfy the Board, through an interview, that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for the Course, together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitae.

(3)Applicants admitted in terms of paragraph

(2)of this byelaw shall be in possession of a pass in an English language proficiency test as approved by the University before being admitted to the Course, provided that applicants in possession of a Secondary Education Certificate pass at Grade 3 or higher in English Language or a pass at the same standard in a comparable qualification, shall be exempt from this requirement.

(4)The interviewing board appointed by the Board shall be composed of at least three members.

(5)Applicants in possession of the Certificate or Diploma in Adult Education, Training and Development of this University, or a comparable qualification, or who have obtained ECTS credits for study-units considered by the Board of Studies to be equivalent to those in the programme of study, may also be admitted to the Course. Subject to the provisions of the Principal Regulations, such applicants may be allowed by the Board of Studies to transfer these credits to the Course, provided that: Course Duration. (i) the number of credits so transferred shall not exceed 60 ECTS credits; and (ii) they may be required to follow a programme of study as approved by the Board of Studies. 4.

(1)The Course shall extend over a period of three years of full-time study or the equivalent in part-time study.

(2)Eligible applicants may register as visiting students for individual study-units and obtain credit for them. Should they be accepted to join the Course within seven years from following the first study-unit, the Board may allow the transfer of any successfully completed credits to the student’s academic record for the Course. Programme of Study.

1. The programme of study, which shall comprise studyunits to which 180 ECTS credits are assigned, shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course. Subject to changes that the Board may, with the approval of Senate, be constrained to make, students are bound to follow the study-units and obtain the credits as indicated in the programme of study for the Degree, provided that the programme of study shall be drawn up in accordance with the BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONOURS) IN ADULT EDUCATION, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT B.A. (HONS) [ S.L. 327.683 3 relevant provisions of the Principal Regulations.
2. Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units to which 30 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course shall be entitled to the Certificate.
3. Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of study-units to which 60 ECTS credits are assigned and who either opt not to proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course shall be entitled to the Diploma.
4. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 180 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course. 9.

(1)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Degree and the Diploma shall be based on the results obtained during the Course, all credits being weighted equally.

(2)Classification of the Awards. The Certificate shall be awarded unclassified. 10. The provisions of the foregoing bye-laws shall apply mutatis mutandis to courses followed on a part-time basis, and subject to such changes as may reasonably be deemed by the Board as necessary due to the part-time nature of the Course.
