L.S. 327.706 Ordinamenti għall-grad ta’ International Master of Business Administration – M.B.A. – taħt il-patroċinju tal-Fakultà tal-Ekonomija, il-Ma

(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the degree of International Master of Business Administration M.B.A. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.

(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy; “the Board of Studies” means the Board of Studies appointed by Senate for the Course, on the recommendation of the Board; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the degree of International Master of Business Administration - M.B.A.; “the Degree” means the Master of Business Administration M.B.A.; “the Postgraduate Certificate” means the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration - P.G. Cert.; “the Postgraduate Diploma” means the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration - P.G. Dip.; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2023 or later. applicable for courses 3.

(1)Applicants seeking admission to the Course shall have a minimum of three years appropriate work experience, excluding work carried out during full-time study, and shall be in possession of a Bachelor degree from this University or any other higher education institution recognised by Senate, provided that applicants in possession of a degree with Third Class Honours or Category III may be required to demonstrate through an interview that they are able to follow the Course with profit. Applicability. Requirements for Admission. 2 INTERNATIONAL MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION - M.B.A. [ S.L. 327.706

(2)The Admissions Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Admissions Committee, may admit into the Course applicants not in possession of a first cycle degree, if it is satisfied that such applicants are in possession of: (

1. i)a higher diploma or a diploma at Level 5 on the MQF, comprising not less than 90 ECTS credits in a related area of study together with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience; or (
2. ii)other academic or professional qualifications and a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience, that together are deemed to be comparable to the qualification indicated in paragraph

(1)of this byelaw.

(3)Applicants referred to in paragraph

(2)of this bye-law shall be required to demonstrate the learning achieved through prior experience and the qualifications presented for entry, through the evaluation procedures established by the University Policy for the Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RPL).

(4)The admission of applicants referred to in paragraph

(2)of this bye-law may be made subject to those conditions that the Faculty Admissions Committee may impose to address any lacunae in the applicants’ academic preparation. Conditions imposed may include the satisfactory completion of a preparatory programme, or the requirement to follow and pass supplementary study-units, up to a maximum of 12 ECTS credits, in addition to the programme of study specified in bye-law 5 of these bye-laws. Course Duration.

1. The Course shall extend over six semesters of part-time study, which shall include the summer semesters. Programme of Study.
2. The programme of study shall be published by the Board after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course. It shall comprise study-units to which a total of 90 ECTS credits are assigned, of which 60 ECTS credits are assigned to taught study-units and 30 ECTS credits are assigned to an applied project report.
3. Students who successfully complete a prescribed set of taught study-units totalling 30 ECTS credits with an average mark of at least 50% and do not proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Certificate.
4. Students who obtain the 60 ECTS credits assigned to the taught study-units with an average mark of at least 50% and do not proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the applied project report, shall be eligible for the award of INTERNATIONAL MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION - M.B.A. [ S.L. 327.706 a Postgraduate Diploma.
5. Students shall be eligible for the award of the Degree if they obtain the 90 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course with an average mark of at least 50%. 9.

(1)Students shall be required to complete an applied project report of around 15,000 words as outlined in the programme for the Course, and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Board. Applied Project Report.

(2)Work on the applied project report shall be undertaken during the final year of the Course. Students shall be assigned a supervisor who shall provide guidance and advice on a regular basis during the period of study.

(3)The theme for the applied project report shall be submitted to the Board for approval by the deadline indicated by the Board. 10.

(1)Students shall be required to have regular contact with their supervisor.

(2)Where appropriate, supervisors shall submit to the Board progress reports for all students under their supervision at the end of each semester of studies. Such reports may include a recommendation to either (

1. a)extend the period of study to enable the student to complete the applied project report; or (
2. b)terminate studies prematurely if the supervisor deems this to be proper in the circumstances, provided that: (
3. i)the extension of the study period referred to in (
4. a)shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Principal Regulations; and (
5. ii)the Board may not terminate studies prematurely according to (
6. b)until it has first given students a chance to defend their case. 11. The Final Weighted Average Mark for purpose of the classification of the Postgraduate Diploma and the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in all the components of the Course, all credits being weighted equally. Classification of the Awards. 12. The Bye-Laws of 2010 in terms of the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the Degree of Executive Master of Business Administration - Executive M.B.A. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, published as Legal Notice 406 of 2010, shall be deemed to cease to be in force as from the 1st October 2023, provided that students registered for this course before the 1st October 2023 shall continue to be governed by the bye-laws that Repeal. 3 4 [ S.L. 327.706 INTERNATIONAL MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION - M.B.A. were in force at the time of their joining the course.
