DIP. -UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS, MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTANCY 8th October, 2024 LEGAL NOTICE 262 of 2024. 1.
(1)These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws for the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Regulation and Compliance P.G. Dip. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.
(2)Citation and Interpretation In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires - “the Board” means the Board of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy; “the Course” means the programme of study leading to the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Regulation and Compliance - P.G. Dip.; “the Postgraduate Certificate” means the Postgraduate Certificate in Financial Regulation and Compliance - P.G. Cert.; “the Postgraduate Diploma” means the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Regulation and Compliance - P.G. Dip.; “the Faculty” means the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy; and “the Principal Regulations” means the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021. 2. These bye-laws shall be commencing in October 2024 or later. applicable for courses 3.
(1)The Course shall be open to applicants in possession of a Bachelor’s degree obtained with at least Third Class Honours or Category III, in an area of study deemed suitable by the Board.
(2)The Faculty Admissions Committee may, after thorough examination of the documents submitted in support of the qualifications presented, and following an interview, recommend the Applicability Requirements for Admission 1 2 [ S.L. 327.747 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN FINANCIAL REGULATION AND COMPLIANCE - P.G. DIP. -UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS, MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTANCY admission of applicants applying for admission in terms of the University’s Policy for the Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RPL) who are in possession of other academic or professional qualifications and documented experience if these are deemed to be comparable to the qualification referred to in paragraph
(1)of this bye-law. The admission of such applicants may be made subject to those conditions that may be imposed to address any lacunae in the applicants’ academic preparation. Course Duration 4.
(1)The Course shall extend over two semesters of fulltime study or the equivalent in part-time study.
(2)Eligible applicants may register as visiting students for individual study-units and obtain credit for them. Subject to approval by the Board, credits awarded for any such study-units may be transferred to the Course, provided that not more than seven years have elapsed from the successful completion of the study-unit. When credit for more than one study-unit is being transferred to the Course, then the seven years shall commence from the date of the last credit awarded. Programme of Study 5.
(1)The programme of study shall comprise taught study-units to which a total of 60 ECTS credits shall be assigned.
(2)The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course.
(3)Students who obtain at least 30 ECTS credits for taught study-units with an average mark of at least 50% and do not proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the Course, shall be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate.
(4)Students shall be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma if they obtain the 60 ECTS credits as outlined in the programme of study for the Course with an average mark of at least 50%. Classification of the Awards 6.
(1)The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Postgraduate Diploma shall be based on the results obtained in all the components of the programme of study, all credits being weighted equally.
