2. The title of these Bye-Laws is the Booths (Tas-Sliema Local Council) Bye-Laws. Citation. 2.

4. In these Bye-Laws, unless the context otherwise "Act" means the Local Government Act; Cap.
5. "booth" means any temporary or permanent structure intended for the sale and, or promotion of harbour cruises or any other type of cruises around the Maltese Islands, hop on hop off buses, sea sports or any other similar commercial services; " Council" means the Tas-Sliema Local Council; "designated area" means the area in Tas-Sliema within which licensed operators may be allowed to set up the booth described in these Bye-Laws; "promotional frame" means any structure of any material usually in the shape of an A also called "A Frames", or other similar structure of whatever shape, including banners of any height, that is used to affix posters, show particular advertising or used in any manner whatsoever to promote or advertise anything related to the promotion of harbour cruises or any type of cruise around the Maltese Islands, hop on hop off buses, sea sports or any other similar commercial services; "operator" means any person or commercial entity who owns and/or operates and, or holds a license for the purpose of the sale and, or promotion of harbour cruises or any other type of cruises around the Maltese Islands, hop on hop off buses, sea sports or any other similar commercial services. 2.
6. In these Bye-Laws, any expression which is defined in the Act shall have the same meaning as assigned to it in the Act.
7. Any operator must have a valid authorisation or license from the relative Authority in order to have a booth or structure intended for the sale and/or promotion of harbour or other cruises, hop on hop off buses, sea sports or any other similar commercial services. 4.

14. The Council has determined the area known as the "designated area" to be the promenade stretch between Tigné Seafront and the Strand, in Sliema, specifically from the point of the promenade opposite St. Anthony Street to the point of the promenade opposite Sacro Cuor Street. This designated area may be varied by the Council at its discretion. The designated area or any variation of the said area shall be made public by the Council. 5.
15. The booths shall be positioned as to leave enough space on the pavement or promenade for people, wheelchairs and buggies/ prams to pass and shall not be positioned next to boarding areas of the cruises themselves. 5.

17. The operators are prohibited from setting up promotional frames or similar structures next to, around or in the vicinity of their booths or in any space between the booths. 5.
