  1. The title of these regulations is the Registration of Craftsmen and Entrepreneurs (Malta Crafts Council) Regulations.
  2. In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires - "the Act" means the Malta Crafts Council Act; Citation. Interpretation. Cap.
  3. "the Council" means the Malta Crafts Council set up under article 4 of the Act; "election" means an election of members to the Council from among craftsmen and entrepreneurs registered with the Council. 3.

(1)Any craftsman or entrepreneur who is a citizen of Malta, or who is not a citizen of Malta but who has the necessary permits according to law to operate in Malta, may submit, on a voluntary basis, his registration with the Council in terms of the conditions laid down in this regulation.
(2)Registration conditions. A craftsman (
  1. a)shall produce a certificate demonstrating his competence in the practice of any Maltese craft and, or any document or evidence showing that the craftsman had been practising any Maltese craft for at least two years up to the date of his registration; (
  2. b)may register himself in the craftsmen register and be called as a craftsman, if he operates as an individual, sohowever that a registered craftsman shall be an individual who only files an application in his own name; (
  3. c)shall be eighteen years or over up to the date of his filing an application for registration.
(3)An entrepreneur (
  1. a)shall produce the following documents together with his application for registration: (
  2. i)his VAT registration number, (
  3. ii)his trading licence registration number; (
  4. b)shall be eighteen years or over up to the date of his filing an application for registration. 4. The application shall be made on an appropriate form to be provided by the Council. (1)Any person who functions both as a craftsman and as an entrepreneur may apply under both categories for the purpose of registering himself with the Council, insofar as he conforms with the provisions of the Act and regulations thereunder.
(2)For the purpose of election to the Council, however, a person who functions both as a craftsman and as an entrepreneur shall declare under which category he opts to function, and may participate therein only under that category. Prior applications. 6. Any application filed on a voluntary basis before the coming into force of these regulations shall be considered as an application for the purpose of these regulations. (1)The Council shall have the right to consider, interpret, accept or refuse any application for registration both by craftsmen and by entrepreneurs.
(2)The Council’s decision is final and the Council shall not be bound in any way of giving any explanation. Benefits and schemes. 8. Any craftsman or entrepreneur who is registered with the Council shall be eligible to participate in any benefit or scheme which the Council may, from time to time, launch according to the particular conditions of such benefit or scheme.
