(1)The title of these regulations is the Certificate of PureBred Breeding Pigs, their Semen, Ova and Embryos Regulations. Title and scope.

(2)The scope of these regulations is to implement the provisions found under the European Union Commission Decision 89/503/EEC laying down the certificate of pure-bred breeding pigs, their semen, ova and embryos which in turn finds its legal basis in articles 5 and 6(e) of European Union Council Directive 88/661/ EEC. 2.

(1)The following particulars must be mentioned in the certificate of pure-bred breeding pigs: Particulars to be listed in certificate. (

1. a)issuing body; (
2. b)name of herd book; (
3. c)entry number in herd book; (
4. d)date of issue; (
5. e)system of identification; (
6. f)identification; (
7. g)date of birth; (
8. h)breed; (
9. i)sex; (
10. j)name and address of breeder; (
11. k)name and address of owner; (

(2)The results of performance tests and the updated results, with origin, of the assessment of the genetic value, on the animal itself and its parents and grandparents must be mentioned in the certificate.

(3)For the purpose of these regulations ''trading partner'' in the meaning of article 2 of the Veterinary Services Act shall mean - *These Regulations have been repealed by Legal Notice 11 of 2024. Cap. 437. 2 [ S.L.437.20 CERTIFICATE OF PURE-BRED BREEDING PIGS, THEIR SEMEN, OVA AND EMBRYOS (

1. a)Member States of the European Community; (
2. b)Third countries to the European Community. Particulars of certificate in regulation 2. 3. The particulars provided for in regulation 2 may be indicated (
3. a)in the form of a certificate conforming to the specimen in Schedule I; (
4. b)in documentation accompanying the pure-bred breeding pig. In this event the competent authorities must certify that the particulars set out in regulation 2 are indicated in those documents, by the following formula ''The undersigned certifies that these documents contain the particulars mentioned in article 1 of European Union Commission Decision 89/503/ EEC''. Certificate of semen pure-bred breeding pigs. 4. The following particulars must be mentioned in the certificate of the semen of pure-bred breeding pigs: (
5. a)all data as listed in regulation 2 concerning the male that provides the semen; (
6. b)information allowing identification of the semen, the date of its collection and the names and addresses of the semen collection centre and of the consignee. Particulars of certificate in regulation 4. 5. The particulars provided for in regulation 4 may be indicated (
7. a)in the form of a certificate conforming to the specimen in Schedule II; (
8. b)in documentation accompanying the semen of the pure-bred breeding pig. In this event the competent authorities must certify that the particulars set out in regulation 4 are indicated in those documents, by the following formula ''The undersigned certifies that these documents contain the particulars mentioned in article 3 of European Union Commission Decision 89/503/ EEC''. Certificate of ova of pure-bred breeding pigs. 6. The following particulars must be mentioned in the certificate of the ova of pure-bred breeding pigs: (
9. a)all data as listed in regulation 2 concerning the sow that provides the ova, (
10. b)information allowing identification of the ovum, the date of its collection and the names and addresses of the ovum collection centre and of the consignee. If there is more than one ovum in a single straw, this must be clearly stated and furthermore the ova must all have the same parentage. 11. a)in the form of a certificate conforming to the specimen in Schedule III; (
12. b)in documentation accompanying the ova of the purebred breeding pig. In this event the competent authorities must certify that the particulars set out in regulation 6 are indicated in those documents, by the following formula ''The undersigned certifies that these documents contain the particulars mentioned in article 5 of European Union Commission Decision 89/503/ EEC''. 8. The following particulars must be mentioned in the certificate of the embryos of pure-bred breeding pigs: Certificate of embryos of purebred breeding pigs. (
13. a)all data as listed in regulation 2 concerning the donor sow and fertilising; (
14. b)information allowing identification of the embryos, date of insemination or fecundating, date of collection and the names and addresses of the embryo collection centre and of the consignee. If there is more than one embryo in a single straw this must be clearly stated and furthermore the embryos must all have the same parentage. 9. The particulars provided for in regulation 8 may be indicated (
15. a)in the form of a certificate conforming to the specimen in Schedule IV; (
16. b)in documentation accompanying the embryos of the pure-bred breeding pig. In this event the competent authorities must certify that the particulars set out in regulation 8 are indicated in those documents, by the following formula ''The undersigned certifies that these documents contain the particulars mentioned in article 7 of European Union Commission Decision 89/503/ EEC''.
