(1)The title of these rules is the Prescription Forms for Free Medicinals Rules. Title and scope. Amended by: L.N. 232 of 2018.
(2)The purpose of these rules is to regulate every form to be used by medical practitioners or dental surgeons to issue manual prescriptions, computer generated prescriptions and eprescriptions, for medicinal products or medical aids as provided for under the Social Security Act, as well as medicinal products and medical aids granted to a patient to be discharged from a hospital. Cap. 318. 2.
(1)The Superintendent of Public Health, shall by notice published in the Gazette, establish the forms that shall be used by a medical practitioner or dental surgeon when prescribing medicinal products or medical aids granted under the Social Security Act. Every form shall include the prescription requirements as provided for under the Prescription and Dispensing Requirements Rules: Provided that, the provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, or the Drugs (Control) Regulations shall apply to a medicinal product falling under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, or under the Drugs (Control) Regulations. (2)It shall be the duty of a medical practitioner or dental surgeon to fill in all details mentioned in the relevant parts of the forms as indicated by the Superintendent of Public Health.
(3)It shall be at the discretion of the medical practitioner or dental surgeon to prescribe treatment for a maximum of six months for medicinal products or medical aids not falling under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, or the Drugs (Control) Regulations. 3.
(1)Every medical practitioner or dental surgeon shall, in prescribing medicinal products or medical aids as referred to in these rules, use the forms as approved by the Superintendent of Public Health and published in the Gazette. (2)Any prescription to which these rules apply, shall be deemed for all purposes of law, to be made out by the medical practitioner or dental surgeon who signed it, whether manually or electronically.
(3)Every medical practitioner or dental surgeon is obliged to report in writing forthwith to the Superintendent of Public Health, any case of theft or loss of any manual prescription or unauthorised access to his electronic profile. 4.
(1)A pharmacist dispensing a prescription to which these rules apply, is to observe the rules issued by the Superintendent of Public Health, and no medicinal product and medical aid shall be Dispensing. Substituted by: L.N. 232 of

(2)A pharmacist dispensing a prescription to which rule 2
(4)applies, must observe the provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, or the Drugs (Control) Regulations.
