- The title of these regulations is the Census Questionnaires (Period of Availability for Public Inspection) Regulations.
- In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires "Act" means the National Archives Act; "Census Officer" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Census Act; "Commissioner" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Data Protection Act; Title. Interpretation. Cap.

- "Final Report" means the final report of the Census of Population published by the National Statistics Office; "National Archives" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Act; "National Archivist" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Act; "sensitive personal data" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Data Protection Act; "third party" has the same meaning assigned to it in the Data Protection Act.
- For the purposes of these regulations, the census shall be deemed to be concluded when the Final Report is made public and such publication date shall be considered as the date when the said census is concluded.
- The Census Officer, after the conclusion of a census, shall deposit all the relative questionnaires and documents at the National Archives.
- The National Archivist shall register the year of census, and retain custody over these questionnaires and documents.
- Public records consisting of census questionnaires or other related documents which are deposited in the National Archives or in any other archival repository shall be available for public inspection in accordance with the provisions of the Act after the expiration of a period of one hundred years from the date when the said census is concluded.
- During the period mentioned in regulation 6, the ownership of census questionnaires and related documents deposited in the National Archives shall vest in the Census Officer, who may authorise any of his employees to access such questionnaires and Cap.

- The Census Officer may, following consultation with the National Archivist and the Commissioner, where he is satisfied that a third party requires access to the census questionnaires and related documents for the purposes of research and statistics, grant his consent for the said access provided that: (a) a period of thirty years has elapsed from the date when the said census is concluded; and (b) where such research concerns sensitive personal data, approval by the Commissioner is obtained in accordance with article 16 of the Data Protection Act.
