- The title of these Regulations is the Fees (Tuition) Regulations.
- In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires - "Director" means the Director General responsible for the Directorate of Educational Services established by article 13 of the Education Act; Title. Interpretation. Amended by: L.N. 373 of 2009; XXIX.2019.

- "Malta" has the same m eaning a s i s assigned t o it i n the Constitution of Malta; "Maltese student means a student normally residing in Malta and includes a resident of a Member State of the European Union: Provided that the Minister responsible for education may, in his discretion, declare any student to be a Maltese student for the purposes of these regulations; "Minister" means the Minister responsible for education. 3.
(1)The fees chargeable to persons who are not citizens of a Member State of the European Union receiving full-time tuition in any level of tuition appearing in the first column in the Schedule, organised by the Directorate for Educational Services, shall be those fees appearing opposite to the level of tuition in the second column of the said Schedule. (2)Such fees shall be payable at the office of the Directorate for Educational Services or at any such school, college or other educational institution as the Director may specify from time to time. 4.
(1)In the case of full-time tuition, one-third of the annual fee shall be paid within ten working days from the commencement of each term.
(2)In the case of part-time tuition, the whole annual fee shall be paid on registration. but it shall be refunded if the course is not held.
(3)The Director may, at his discretion, extend the time within which fees are to be paid or allow the fees to be paid by instalments, provided the total annual fee is paid within the academic year to which it refers.
(4)If any fee, or part of a fee, is not paid when due in accordance with the provisions of the preceding subregulations, the Director may preclude the relative student from attendance to the course in respect of which the fee or part of a fee, as the case may Method of payment. 2 [ S.L.605.01 FEES (TUITION) be, is due, without prejudice to the Director’s right to collect the amount so due. - Where, for the purpose of establishing the fee payable, a doubt arises as to the nature and, or the educational level of any particular course, such nature and, or educational level shall be decided by the Director. Exemption from fees.
