MDINA (RESTRICTION OF ACCESS AND TRANSIT OF VEHICLES) [ S.L.65.27 1 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION 65.27 MDINA (RESTRICTION OF ACCESS AND TRANSIT OF VEHICLES) REGULATIONS 13th July, 2004 LEGAL NOTICE 359 of 2004, as amended by Legal Notices 329 of 2005 and 408 of 2007. 1. The title of these regulations is Mdina (Restriction of Access and Transit of Vehicles) Regulations. Title. 2. No vehicle, other than karrozzin, shall have access to any street or square inside Mdina nor circulate within that city at any time. Vehicles prohibited access. 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of regulation 2 (
- a)vehicles licensed in the name of residents of Mdina, bridal cars, ambulances, fire-fighting and police vehicles, hearses and one funeral car, and vehicles being used by doctors on call on a person within Mdina, shall have complete access and transit therein at all times; Exceptions. Amended by: L.N. 329 of 2005. (
- b)commercial vehicles delivering or selling goods within Mdina may circulate within Mdina for such purposes between 6.00a.m. and 10.30a.m. and between 3.30p.m. and 5.00p.m. on all days; (
- c)mini-buses, hired for the conveyance of children attending schools within Mdina, may circulate within Mdina between 7.30a.m. and 9.00a.m. and between 1.00p.m.and 2.00p.m. on schooldays; (
- d)taxi-cars and chauffeur driven cars shall only have access and transit therein, without parking, to transport residents to and from hotels and residences in Mdina; (
- e)vehicles belonging to any person of any nationality displaying a Blue Sticker within the vehicle in such manner that it may be seen and read from outside the vehicle, may at all times circulate and be parked in specific reserved areas within Mdina; provided that for the purposes of this paragraph, a Blue Sticker is a sign issued by the National Commission Persons with Disability, or any other internationally recognised sign indicating a disability. 4.
(1)The Mdina Local Council may grant a permit for vehicles to enter and circulate within the city of Mdina for a specific purpose or reason under such conditions as the Mdina Local Council may deem proper to impose. Mdina Local Council may grant permit for temporary access. Amended by: L.N. 408 of 2007.
(2)The application for the permit referred to in subregulation
(1)shall be in writing on the appropriate form appearing in the Schedule, and such application shall be processed by the Mdina Form of application. 2 [ S.L.65.27 MDINA (RESTRICTION OF ACCESS AND TRANSIT OF VEHICLES) Local Council following the payment to the Mdina Local Council of an administration fee of two euros and thirty-three cents (2.33) for each application. Permit to be signed by Mayor and Executive Secretary.
(3)The said permit shall be in writing and signed by the Mayor and the Executive Secretary of the Mdina Local Council, and shall be displayed within the vehicle in such a manner that it may be seen and read from outside the vehicle at all times that the vehicle is within Mdina. Permit not to exceed twelve months and is not transferable.
(4)The said permit shall be issued for a period which does not exceed twelve months from the date of issue, and it shall be neither transferable to any other person or to any other vehicle.
