P O TATO ( C U LT I VAT I O N ) CHAPTER 64 POTATO (CULTIVATION) ORDINANCE * † To make provision for the better cultivation of potatoes and other purposes connected therewith. (20th September, 1930) ‡ Enacted by ORDINANCE XIV of 1930, as amended by Ordinance III of 1935, and Legal Notice 4 of 1963. * 1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Potato (Cultivation) Ordinance. Short title. 2. The Minister responsible for agriculture shall have power to make, and when made, amend, vary or revoke regulations for all or any of the following purposes: Power of Minister responsible for agriculture to make regulations. Amended by: L.N. 4 of 1963. (

  1. a)for forbidding the importation of seed-potatoes not conforming to requirements; (
  2. b)for providing for the proper cultivation of potatoes; (
  3. c)for regulating the exercise of the trade of potatobroker and for fixing the brokerage fees. 3. Any person who commits a breach of any regulation made under this Ordinance shall be guilty of a contravention and shall be liable on conviction to the punishments established in the Criminal Code for contraventions. *This Ordinance has been repealed by Act XV of 2025. †The titles have been altered in view of the fact that those provisions of the Ordinance which applied to the export of potatoes have been repealed by original article 20 of Ordinance No. III of 1935, (now Chapter 85 of the Revised Edition) which article had been omitted under the Malta Statute Law Revision Ordinance, 1936. ‡See Proclamation No. XXII of the 20th of September, 1930.
