PUBLIC WEIGHERS
[CAP. 42.
1
CHAPTER 42
PUBLIC WEIGHERS ORDINANCE *
Repealed by Act II of 2015.
*Article 14 of this Ordinance provided as follows:
"14.
(1)
(2)
Each of the provisions of this Ordinance shall come into force on a date to be fixed by the
Governor by notice or proclamation, and shall continue to be in force until the
commencement of Ordinance No XII of 1910 (the Weights and Measures Ordinance) unless
previously revoked.
Notwithstanding anything contained in Ordinance No XII of 1910 (the Weights and Measures
Ordinance), it shall be lawful for the Governor to postpone the commencement of that
Ordinance, and to direct that the same shall come into operation to be notified thereafter in
the Government Gazette."
By Proclamation No XXIII of the 28th August, 1914, articles 1 to 4 (inclusive) and article 14 of this
Ordinance were brought into force on 28th August, 1914. The other articles never came into force.
Ordinance XII of 1910 (now Chapter 39) came into force on 1st July, 1921, by Government Notice No
77 of 1921. Consequently, on that date in terms of article 14(1), reproduced above, the provisions of
this Ordinance which were then in force ceased to be so. The others never came into force.
For these reasons this Ordinance has been omitted under the Statute Law Revision Act, 1980.
